Confessions of a Nail Tech x Jenny
Maria MG 1 commentStarting 2022, with a new series of "Confessions of A Nail Tech". On today's episode, we are talking about nails with Jenny (known on Instagram as @thenailchef13)! Let's discover her Nail Journey and find out more about her personal and professional life!
MG: Hi! Please tell us a bit about yourself, so we can get to know you! Hello! My name is Jenny and I'm 49 years old. I live in beautiful Southern California with my husband of 20 years, our son, and 3 dogs.
MG: Tell us how you found your way into Nail World? After graduating high school, I immediately enrolled in Cosmetology school. I loved doing makeup and nails. After doing makeup on a few films, I realized that my true love was nails and it has remained my passion since.
MG: What inspired you to start an Instagram Account? How can you grow a community on this platform? When I first started my Instagram account, I was only doing art on pedicures using regular polish and acrylic paints. I wanted to show that you can do art on toes as well. I quickly learned how to do gel application and the rest is history. The nail community on IG is so inspiring. With regular posting and creating how-to reels, you can keep people engaged and wanting more.
MG: What are the most important steps when it comes to “manicure”? A clean prepped foundation is the absolute most important step to a lasting long manicure. I only use the best of the best!
MG: We saw you started some Nail Classes. Which one do you like more: to teach or to create? This is a tough one because they go hand-in-hand for me. Through my creations, it has led to many people wanting to learn my style and designs. My heart is so full once I teach a class and see my students using the designs they've learned on their clients. I want everyone to succeed and if I can be a part of that, then I have done my job.
MG: If you were to choose between complex hand-painted Nail Art and a regular manicure, what would you pick? I would absolutely choose the complex hand-painted Nail Art. I've been artistic since I was a kid, so it comes natural to me.
MG: What Nail Trends do you predict for 2022? I am predicting a lot of plaids and a lot of glitter. The glitters that have been released this year have been incredible, so I see a lot of them included in Winter Nail Art.
MG: What inspires you more when it comes to Nail Aesthetics? I absolutely love seeing a crisp clean manicure. A well trained manicurist can obtain this with quality products.
MG: Describe yourself using 3 emojis
👨👩👧😂👩🎨
MG: Who would be your dream-celebrity client? Why? I would love to do Gwen Stefani. She, being a creative, seems like she'd allow me to do what would flow from me.
MG: How do you hope to see your career grow in the next 3-5 years? I would love to teach Nail Art more. I have received really positive feedback from my teaching style and classes, and this is proof that I have conquered my fears and am pretty good at this.
MG: What advice would you give to an aspiring Nail Artist? It's okay to tell your clients "no", that what they are showing you isn't your style and you are not comfortable doing that. Be your true authentic self.
